Many strong emotions can change the course of our day, unbalance us, or ruin a perfectly good mood. One emotion that we all deal with at some point is anger. More often than not underneath the anger is hurt and disappointment and the easier emotion to express is anger.

Do Not Lose Heart

It is amazing that, no matter how many times you read the Bible, it always provides something new. The same verse can be read multiple times and still provide new lessons and insights. A newly discovered perspective on a verse can carry you through the toughest day if allowed to soak in.

Staying in God’s word  will result in a continuous renewing of the mind.  Listening to music is often the same way. The same song can be heard many times and suddenly something can touch a soul deep within.

There will be days that seem unbearable in our lives.  There will be moments and events that come that are not possible to understand on this earth. No matter how tough the journey is, don’t stop reading God’s word and listening. If you keep pressing you will feel renewed, comforted, and more peace each day.  Some days will be tougher than others but joy will come.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2nd Corinthians 4:16-17

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Believing and Expecting

It's that time when we create expectations for the rest of the year. We do so with excitement, passion and dedication. With a lack of hope, a blanket of dread and worry can cover us with what we think the future holds. Before we get too far down that road, let's stop to ask, "What does God have to say about our future?"

There are things that are etched in my memory, burnt in like an image on a TV screen when left on too long. Some of the things I would love to be able to delete, just like we do today with multiple selfies taken to get the “perfect one”. When it comes down to it, life isn’t perfect no matter how much we hope otherwise. I have always wished those flawed memories would fade until recently.

I have been told and have read that all the “firsts” can be difficult after losing a spouse. So far, the kids and I have had lost of firsts including holidays and our own birthdays. Today is Tall Boyfriend’s first birthday since he lost his battle to cancer. I know where he is and do not have sadness when I think of him receiving his perfect healing and celebrating his first birthday without pain, sickness, or sadness.

In the months since becoming a widow, there have been many adjustments. Some are small in comparison to the larger parts of life such as making financial decisions alone or being a single parent. Some adjustments are felt in the day to day routines which become those quick moments that stop me in my tracks such as realizing I do not know where he kept extra furnace filters.

Make Room

During this last few weeks a song that has resonated with me is “Make Room” by Casting Crowns.  A line in the chorus that stands out says, “Is there room in your heart for God to write his story?  You can come as you are, but it may set you apart”.

Balance Ministries was founded on faith that God would order steps and impart vision according to His plan.

Our Vision for 2021 is moving forward to assist those in need who are struggling with chronic illnesses such as cancer. We will be offering support groups, individual counseling in person and via telehealth for patients and their families. We will also be rolling out a gift card ministry and offering financial assistance to those needing to travel as a result of chronic illnesses.

As always, please reach out to us if you have need of prayer or other needs. We may be able to help or point you in the right direction!

Our Mission
To assist others in moving forward by laying a scriptural foundation, while facilitating opportunities for connectedness with God and each other.
